Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Research Scientist in Computational Biology to join a globally distributed research team. This fully remote role focuses on developing computational approaches to analyze genomics, proteomics, and transcriptomics data to drive discovery in disease mechanisms and drug development.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD and at least seven years in the field, strong Python or R skills, and experience applying machine learning to biological data.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics or related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of computational biology or bioinformatics research experience.
• Expertise in Python or R with bioinformatics libraries and tools.
• Strong experience with machine learning techniques applied to biological data.

Responsibilities

• Design computational strategies to analyze large-scale biological datasets.
• Develop algorithms and models for data mining, pattern recognition, and hypothesis generation.
• Collaborate with experimental biologists to interpret results and guide research directions.
• Build and maintain data analysis pipelines and workflows.
• Stay updated on advances in computational biology and bioinformatics.
• Communicate findings through presentations and publications.
