Placements24 seeks a Grid Integration Specialist to join our client in Upington, focusing on connecting renewable energy projects to the national grid. You will manage grid connection studies, ensure compliance with grid codes, and collaborate with engineers to optimize grid stability.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in power systems engineering, expertise in PSS/E, DIgSILENT, PSCAD, and a deep understanding of interconnection standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in Power Systems or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in power systems engineering, with a strong focus on grid integration of renewable energy sources.
• Proficiency in power system simulation software (e.g., PSS/E, PowerFactory DIgSILENT, PSCAD).
• In-depth knowledge of grid codes and interconnection standards in South Africa and internationally.
• Experience in managing grid connection application processes and stakeholder negotiations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for this hybrid role in Upington.

Responsibilities

• Manage and execute grid connection studies, including power flow and short-circuit analyses for renewables.
• Ensure compliance with grid codes, interconnection standards and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with utility operators to facilitate interconnection and address technical queries.
• Develop technical specifications for grid connection equipment and infrastructure.
• Provide expert advice on grid integration challenges and solutions to project teams.
• Collaborate with power systems engineers to optimize performance and stability of renewable assets.
