Job summary

Placements24 seeks a highly skilled Grid Integration Specialist to join our client’s team in Stellenbosch. You will drive the seamless integration of renewable energy sources into the power grid, analyze grid stability, and develop interconnection strategies in compliance with SA grid codes.

The role requires a Master’s in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) with 6+ years in power systems, including experience with PSS/E, PSCAD, or DIgSILENT.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in power systems engineering, focused on grid integration of renewables.
• Deep knowledge of power system dynamics, stability analysis, and protection schemes.
• Familiarity with South African grid codes, regulatory requirements, and interconnection processes.

Responsibilities

• Analyze how solar and wind generation affect grid stability, power quality, and reliability.
• Develop interconnection strategies and implement technical solutions for renewable projects to connect to the national grid.
• Ensure compliance with grid codes and regulatory frameworks from entities like NERSA and Eskom.
• Collaborate with utilities, grid operators, and developers to facilitate grid connection and upgrades.
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments for infrastructure upgrades needed for renewables.
