Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Grid Integration Engineer in Pretoria to optimize renewable energy integration into the national grid. You will lead analyses and planning to ensure grid stability and compliance while coordinating with utility partners and regulators.

Reporting to the energy transition team, you will manage complex projects, analyze grid data, and stay ahead of evolving standards to enable cleaner, sustainable power in South Africa.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with focus on power systems.
• 8+ years of experience in grid integration, power system planning, or operations.
• Expertise in power system modeling and simulation software (e.g., PSS/E, PowerFactory).
• Thorough understanding of grid interconnection standards and renewable energy technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies for integrating variable renewable energy sources.
• Conduct grid impact studies and assess transmission network stability and capacity.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements for grid connection agreements.
• Analyze grid operational data to identify issues and propose improvements.
• Stay updated on evolving grid codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks.
• Provide technical guidance on grid connection challenges and solutions.
