Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Lead Compliance Officer for a remote role supporting Durban operations. This senior position focuses on developing and overseeing the compliance framework to ensure adherence to FAIS, FICA, POPIA, AML/CFT, and internal policies.

You will lead a team of compliance professionals, conduct risk assessments, provide regulatory guidance to business units, and liaise with regulators and external auditors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• A postgraduate degree or professional certification (e.g., CCEP, CRCM) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in compliance, risk management, or internal audit within the financial services sector.
• In-depth knowledge of financial regulations (e.g., FAIS, FICA, POPIA, AML/CFT).
• Proven experience in developing and implementing compliance frameworks and policies.
• Strong analytical and investigative skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
• Must be comfortable and proficient working in a remote environment, with a dedicated home office setup.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain a robust compliance program aligned with current financial regulations and industry best practices.
• Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and audits to identify potential areas of non-compliance.
• Provide expert advice and guidance to business units on regulatory requirements and compliance matters.
• Oversee the investigation of compliance breaches and the implementation of corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees at all levels.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities and external auditors during examinations and investigations.
• Stay updated on evolving regulatory landscapes and proactively advise on necessary policy changes.
• Manage and mentor a team of compliance professionals.
