Placements24 is seeking a Lead Chemical Engineer for a fully remote role across South Africa to drive innovative process development from lab scale to commercial scale. You will model performance, guide scale-up, and work with global teams on cutting-edge technologies.

The ideal candidate holds a Master's or PhD in Chemical Engineering with 7+ years in process development and strong simulation skills (Aspen Plus/CHEMCAD). Excellent communication and remote collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Chemical Engineering.
• 7+ years in process development, R&D, or chemical engineering roles.
• Experience in chemical process design, scale-up, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with process simulation software (Aspen Plus/CHEMCAD).

Responsabilités

• Lead conceptualization, design and development of novel chemical processes from lab to pilot and commercial scale.
• Use advanced process modeling and simulation to predict performance and opportunities.
• Oversee data from experiments and pilot trials conducted remotely or at facilities.
• Create technical documentation including P&IDs and operating manuals.
• Collaborate with researchers, engineers and project managers across time zones.
• Ensure processes meet safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot challenges during development and scale-up.
• Stay updated on new chemical engineering technologies and propose solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers in remote process development practices.
