Job summary

Our client in South Africa is seeking a highly skilled Chemical Process Development Engineer for a fully remote role based in North West. You will drive development and scale-up of chemical processes from concept to production, collaborating with R&D, scale-up, and manufacturing teams via virtual tools.

The role demands at least 6 years in process development, strong modeling and simulation skills (Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD), and excellence in data analysis and communication across remote teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 6+ years of experience in chemical process development.
• Experience designing and optimizing processes via experiments and simulations.
• Proficiency with Aspen HYSYS or ChemCAD and statistical tools.
• Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for virtual collaboration.
• Experience in remote/distributed teams.
• Legally authorized to work remotely in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design, and optimize new chemical processes.
• Conduct lab and pilot-scale experiments to validate designs.
• Perform process modeling and simulation using standard software.
• Analyze data to identify key parameters and optimize operating conditions.
• Develop PFDs and P&IDs.
• Write technical reports detailing results and recommendations.
• Collaborate with R&D, scale-up, and manufacturing teams via virtual tools.
• Ensure activities meet safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage project timelines and remote deliverables.
• Stay updated on new technologies in process development.
