Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer to join their innovative team in a fully remote role across South Africa. You will drive process improvements, design new chemical processes, and ensure safety and operational efficiency on diverse projects.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Chemical Engineering with 7+ years of experience in process design, simulations (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and CAD, plus strong thermodynamics, kinetics, and leadership abilities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
7+ years of progressive experience in chemical process design, development, and optimization.
Experience with process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and CAD tools.
Strong understanding of thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, and fluid mechanics.
Experience in project management and leading technical initiatives.
Excellent communication and ability to work independently and remotely.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes and equipment for new and existing products.
Conduct feasibility studies, process simulations, and pilot plant trials to validate process designs.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex operational issues in chemical manufacturing environments.
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, operations, and project management, to achieve project goals.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of best practices within the engineering discipline.
