Job summary

Placements24 is assisting a Centurion-based specialty chemicals manufacturer in finding a Senior Chemical Engineer focused on Process Safety Management (PSM). The role leads PSM programs, PHAs, RCAs and MOC with a strong regulatory compliance mindset.

Applicants should bring a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering, 10+ years in chemical engineering with ≥5 years in process safety, and ideally PrEng registration. This on-site role emphasizes safety leadership in hazardous environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 10+ years in chemical engineering with ≥5 years in process safety.
• Deep knowledge of PSM elements (PHAs, MOC, MI, incident investigation).
• Experience with HAZOP and LOPA methodologies.
• PR Eng registration is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive PSM programs.
• Lead PHAs, including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
• Conduct incident investigations and RCAs for safety events.
• Develop and implement MOC procedures.
• Oversee pre-startup safety reviews for new/modified processes.
• Deliver safety training for engineers and operations staff.
• Ensure compliance with MI programs and procedures.
• Audit PSM systems and drive improvements.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and EHS to integrate safety.
