Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Process Safety Engineer in Centurion, Gauteng, to uphold top safety standards across facilities. You will lead PHAs, develop SMS, conduct risk assessments, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Collaborative work with engineering, operations and maintenance is essential to foster a strong safety culture. The role requires 5+ years in process safety within oil & gas or chemical sectors, proficiency in PHA methods, and readiness to work in Centurion.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering within oil & gas or chemical industries.
In-depth knowledge of PHA methodologies (HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID).
Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM) principles and standards.
Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Based in or willing to relocate to Centurion, Gauteng.

Responsibilities

Conduct PHAs, including HAZOP, HAZID, and LOPA studies.
Develop and implement safety management systems and procedures.
Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards (OHS Act, PSM).
Review engineering designs to ensure process safety integrity.
Investigate incidents and root causes, recommend corrective actions.
Develop and deliver safety training programs to staff.
Oversee SCE maintenance and testing programs.
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
Promote a proactive safety culture.
