Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Process Design Chemical Engineer to join our Kimberley-based engineering team. You will develop conceptual process designs and P&IDs for new plants and process modifications, while performing simulations to optimize performance.

Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, you will specify major equipment and ensure safety, environmental compliance, and operational excellence in challenging chemical process projects within the Northern Cape region.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
5–7 years of experience in process design and engineering.
Proficiency in process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and CAD tools.
Strong knowledge of chemical engineering fundamentals and design principles.
Experience with P&ID development and equipment sizing.
Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

Develop conceptual process designs and P&IDs for new plants and modifications.
Perform process simulations and calculations to optimize designs and predict performance.
Specify major process equipment, including reactors, columns, pumps, and heat exchangers.
Conduct technical reviews of designs and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
Ensure designs meet safety, environmental, and operational requirements.
Assist in commissioning and start-up phases of new process installations.
