Job summary
Placements24 seeks a highly skilled Chemical Process Design Engineer in Sandton to conceptualize, design and develop innovative chemical processes and plant layouts. You will translate client needs into efficient, safe process designs and collaborate across disciplines on diverse projects in Gauteng.
The role requires strong process safety knowledge, proficiency with Aspen Plus/HYSYS and CAD tools, and excellent communication skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
- 7+ years in process design engineering in chemical/petrochemical sectors.
- Proficiency with process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and CAD tools.
- Strong knowledge of unit operations, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
- Familiar with process safety principles and risk assessment.
- Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop PFDs and P&IDs for new plants or modifications.
- Perform mass and energy balances, equipment sizing and selection.
- Conduct feasibility studies and simulations to optimize designs.
- Ensure compliance with standards, safety and environmental requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers and other disciplines for integrated delivery.
- Prepare equipment specifications and provide on-site commissioning support.
