Placements24 in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal seeks a Senior Power Systems Engineer to lead HV power system design and analysis for large industrial and utility projects. The role focuses on grid stability, protection, power quality, and renewable integration within the KwaZulu-Natal region.

You will mentor engineers, perform power flow/short-circuit/stability studies, prepare technical reports and design documents, and ensure adherence to IEC/IEEE/SANS standards while collaborating with clients

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in power systems engineering, with a strong HV focus.
• Experience with grid connection studies for renewable energy projects.
• Registered Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng.) with ECSA or eligible for registration.
• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

Responsabilités

• Lead the design and analysis of high-voltage power systems, including transmission and distribution networks.
• Perform power flow, short circuit, stability, and transient analyses using specialized software.
• Develop protection schemes and relay settings for system security and reliability.
• Evaluate grid integration of renewable energy sources (solar, wind).
• Prepare detailed technical reports, specifications, and design documents.
• Collaborate with clients, regulators, and other engineering disciplines to ensure project success.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers and staff.
• Conduct site visits for assessment, feasibility studies, and construction supervision.
• Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory requirements in power systems engineering.
• Ensure designs comply with IEC, IEEE, SANS standards.
