The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power systems, 6+ years of experience, and proficiency with PSS/E, PSCAD, and DIgSILENT PowerFactory. Travel within KwaZulu-Natal may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a Power Systems specialization.
• Minimum of 6 years in power systems engineering focusing on grid integration.
• Proficiency with PSS/E, PSCAD, and DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
• Strong knowledge of grid codes, protection, and control principles.

Responsibilities

• Analyze the impact of renewable energy generation (solar, wind) on grid stability, voltage, and frequency.
• Develop and apply grid interconnection standards and technical requirements for new renewable energy projects.
• Utilize power system simulation software to model grid behavior under various scenarios.
• Design and recommend control strategies and protection schemes for grid-connected renewable energy facilities.
• Collaborate with grid operators and utilities to ensure compliance with grid codes and operational requirements.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges related to grid integration, such as power quality issues and curtailment.
• Prepare technical reports, studies, and recommendations for internal stakeholders and external clients.
• Stay updated on international best practices and technological advancements in grid integration.
