Placements24 seeks a Senior Power Systems Engineer for Port Elizabeth to lead planning, design and analysis of electrical networks for major infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities include power flow, short-circuit and stability studies, and specifying transformers, switchgear and protection relays, while guiding project teams on grid integration and renewables. This hands-on role offers impact on regional energy networks.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power Systems.
• 8+ years of experience in power utility or related industry.
• Proficiency with PSCAD, PowerFactory DIgSILENT or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of protection relays, substation design and grid integration.
• Experience with renewable energy integration is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Perform power flow, short circuit, and stability studies for high-voltage power systems.
• Design and specify electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, generators, and protection relays.
• Develop and review protection and control schemes for substations and power plants.
• Contribute to the planning and expansion of electrical networks, ensuring capacity and reliability.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on power system design principles and best practices.
• Conduct site visits for project monitoring, commissioning, and troubleshooting as required in Port Elizabeth.
