Formación

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in power systems engineering, with a strong HV focus.
• Experience with grid connection studies for renewable energy projects.
• Registered Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng.) with ECSA or eligible for registration.
• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

Responsabilidades

• Lead the design and analysis of high-voltage power systems, including transmission and distribution networks.
• Perform power flow, short circuit, stability, and transient analyses using specialized software.
• Develop protection schemes and relay settings for system security and reliability.
• Evaluate grid integration of renewable energy sources (solar, wind).

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and analysis of high-voltage power systems, including transmission and distribution networks.
• Perform power flow, short circuit, stability, and transient analysis using specialized software.
• Develop protection schemes and settings for various power system components, ensuring system security and reliability.
• Evaluate and recommend solutions for power quality issues and grid integration of renewable energy sources.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, specifications, and design documents for power system projects.
• Collaborate with clients, regulatory bodies, and other engineering disciplines to ensure project success.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff.
• Conduct site visits for project assessment, feasibility studies, and construction supervision.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and evolving regulatory requirements in power systems engineering.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant national and international standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, SANS).

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in power systems engineering, with a strong focus on high-voltage applications.
• Expertise in using power system simulation software such as PSS/E, ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or equivalent.
• In-depth knowledge of power system protection principles, relay coordination, and fault analysis.
• Experience with grid connection studies for renewable energy projects (solar, wind).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lead technical teams and manage complex engineering tasks.
• Registered Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) with ECSA or eligible for registration.
• Experience in project management is an added advantage.
