Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer in Randburg to lead design and optimization of manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and distribution centers. Hybrid role combines on-site assessment with remote collaboration to maximize throughput, safety, and efficiency.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in industrial engineering, strong CAD skills (AutoCAD/SolidWorks), and deep knowledge of material handling, ergonomics, and Lean manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Architecture with an industrial focus.
• Master’s degree is an advantage.
• Minimum 7 years in industrial engineering focusing on facility layout, design, and material handling.
• Proficient in CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for facility planning.
• Strong knowledge of Lean principles, ergonomics, and safety standards.
• Experience with simulation software for layout analysis is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong project management.
• Effective communication with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and redesign of industrial facilities (plants, warehouses, distribution centers).
• Develop optimized layouts considering material flow, equipment placement, and storage.
• Create detailed facility plans using CAD and other design tools.
• Conduct site assessments and analyze existing layouts for improvements.
• Apply Lean principles to reduce waste and optimize value streams.
• Ensure designs comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Develop specs for material handling equipment and storage systems.
• Collaborate with architects, construction managers, and vendors.
• Perform simulation and modeling to predict performance and identify issues.
• Contribute to CAPEX justifications for facility improvements and new builds.
