Job summary

Placements24 in Vereeniging is seeking an experienced Industrial Engineer to optimize facility layouts and material flow. You will analyze current layouts, identify bottlenecks, and develop data-driven solutions to boost throughput, reduce waste, and enhance safety within a large-scale industrial complex in Gauteng.

The role requires 4+ years of relevant experience, strong CAD and simulation skills, and a solid grounding in Lean principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in industrial engineering focusing on layout and process optimization.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD/SolidWorks) for layouts.
• Experience with simulation tools (Arena, FlexSim) is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data interpretation.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing facility layouts and material flow to identify areas for improvement.
• Develop optimized plant and workstation layouts using CAD software and simulation tools.
• Design efficient material handling systems and storage solutions.
• Conduct time and motion studies to optimize workflow and operator efficiency.
• Collaborate with operations, safety, and maintenance teams to ensure layouts meet all functional requirements.
• Develop and maintain layout documentation, including 2D and 3D models.
• Evaluate the impact of proposed layout changes on productivity, cost, and safety.
• Participate in the planning and design of new facilities or expansions.
• Implement best practices in workplace ergonomics and safety.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to facility operations.
