Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead major infrastructure projects on a remote-capable basis within South Africa. The role emphasizes autonomous leadership, strategic planning, and delivering large-scale capital projects across dispersed teams.

The ideal candidate has 9+ years in infrastructure PM, expertise with Primavera P6/MS Project/Asta Powerproject, and willingness to travel for site inspections. A Master's or PMP is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical) or related field.
• Master's degree or PMP certification preferred.
• 9+ years of progressive project management experience in large infrastructure projects.
• Experience managing budgets over R10 million.
• Proven ability to lead remote/distributed teams.
• Expertise with Primavera P6, MS Project, and Asta Powerproject.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for site inspections.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage detailed project plans for major infrastructure initiatives.
• Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams in a remote setting.
• Oversee project budgets, resource allocation, and procurement processes.
• Manage risks and issues with proactive mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and quality benchmarks.
• Facilitate regular project status meetings and report to senior management.
• Manage relationships with vendors, suppliers, and government agencies.
• Drive continuous improvement in PM processes and practices.
• Ensure effective communication among all project participants regardless of location.
• Conduct site visits balancing remote work with operational requirements.
