Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead remote IT infrastructure initiatives across a distributed team in South Africa. You will oversee planning, execution, and delivery of complex deployments, including networking, servers, cloud migrations, and data center activities.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of IT project management experience, strong leadership in remote settings, and familiarity with Agile, Waterfall, and ITSM.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in project management focused on IT infrastructure.
• Proven track record delivering complex IT infrastructure projects, remote or distributed teams.
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure technologies, PM methodologies (Agile, Waterfall), and ITSM.
• Exceptional remote leadership and stakeholder management.
• Proficiency with remote collaboration tools and project management software.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/Engineering.
• PMP, PRINCE2, ITIL or relevant infrastructure certifications desirable.
• Ability to manage projects autonomously and coordinate remote teams from Upington, Northern Cape.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of IT infrastructure projects, including network upgrades, server deployments, cloud migrations, and data center management.
• Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams of IT professionals, engineers, and vendors in a remote setting.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, defining scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and budgets.
• Implement and manage project execution, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and best practices.
• Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, issues, and dependencies within a distributed environment.
• Oversee procurement processes, vendor management, and contract negotiations for infrastructure projects.
• Ensure the security, reliability, and scalability of deployed IT infrastructure solutions.
• Communicate project status, progress, and key decisions effectively to all stakeholders via virtual channels.
• Conduct post-project reviews and document lessons learned for future initiatives.
