Placements24 is partnering with a well-established retail group in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, to recruit a Senior HR Generalist. You will support HR across business units, manage employee relations, recruitment, performance management and compliance in a dynamic retail environment.

The role requires 3–5 years in HR Generalist roles, solid SA labor law knowledge, and the ability to work a hybrid schedule balancing on-site and remote tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Industrial Psychology or related field.
• 3–5 years in a broad HR Generalist role with SA labor law knowledge.
• Hybrid work model experience and ability to support Port Elizabeth area.

About the Role

Our client, a well-established retail group with operations across Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape , is looking for a seasoned Senior HR Generalist. This role is essential for supporting the HR function across various business units, ensuring the effective implementation of HR policies and programs. You will provide expertise in areas such as employee relations, recruitment, performance management, and HR compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HR best practices, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. This position requires a hybrid working arrangement, allowing for both remote flexibility and essential on-site presence to support employees and management in Port Elizabeth and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive HR support to employees and management across assigned business units.
• Manage employee relations issues, including investigations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes.
• Support recruitment and selection processes, from sourcing to onboarding.
• Administer performance management cycles, including goal setting and performance reviews.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant labor laws and company HR policies.
• Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
• Manage HR record-keeping and ensure data accuracy in the HRIS.
• Support employee engagement initiatives and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
• Advise on HR best practices and provide guidance to line managers.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a broad HR Generalist role.
• Strong understanding of South African labor law and HR best practices.
• Proven experience in employee relations, recruitment, and performance management.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in HR Information Systems (HRIS).
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or a related field.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, balancing remote and on-site responsibilities.
• Experience in the retail sector in Eastern Cape is a plus.
