About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Geologist to join their exploration and development team, primarily based in Stellenbosch . This hybrid role involves detailed geological analysis, prospect evaluation, and the integration of diverse geological datasets to identify and characterize hydrocarbon resources. You will collaborate closely with reservoir engineers, geophysicists, and management to provide critical insights that guide exploration strategies and field development planning. The role demands strong analytical capabilities and effective communication within a multidisciplinary team, leveraging both remote and in-office collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret and integrate geological, geophysical, and petrophysical data to build comprehensive subsurface models.
• Evaluate exploration acreage and develop drilling recommendations based on detailed risk and reward assessments.
• Conduct sedimentological and stratigraphic analyses to understand reservoir distribution and quality.
• Prepare geological reports, presentations, and resource estimates for internal and external stakeholders.
• Mentor junior geologists and contribute to the development of geological best practices.
• Stay current with new technologies and methodologies in geological exploration and interpretation.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Geology, Geophysics, or a related earth science discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in exploration geology , with a focus on clastic or carbonate reservoirs.
• Proficiency with geological software packages (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite) and data management tools.
• Strong understanding of sequence stratigraphy, structural geology, and basin analysis.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, collaborating across different locations including Stellenbosch .
