Job description

Our client is looking for a skilled Geologist with a specialization in Reservoir Characterization to join their exploration and production team in Stellenbosch. This role is instrumental in evaluating subsurface geological structures, defining reservoir properties, and supporting exploration and development strategies within the Oil & Gas industry. You will utilize advanced geological modeling techniques and data analysis to identify potential hydrocarbon reserves and optimize production strategies. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to significant geological assessments in the picturesque Western Cape region.

Key Responsibilities

• Construct and interpret geological models based on well logs, seismic data, core samples, and production data.
• Perform reservoir characterization studies to define rock properties, fluid distribution, and reservoir heterogeneity.
• Identify and evaluate potential exploration targets and development opportunities.
• Collaborate with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and petrophysicists to integrate geological data into comprehensive models.
• Prepare geological reports, presentations, and recommendations for management and technical teams.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and methodologies in geological modeling and reservoir analysis.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in geological interpretation and reservoir characterization within the Oil & Gas sector.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Petrel, GeoModeller, SKUA-GOCAD).
• Strong understanding of sedimentology, stratigraphy, and structural geology.
• Experience with seismic interpretation and well log analysis.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
