Placements24 is seeking a highly analytical Senior Geoscientist to join the exploration and appraisal team in Nelspruit on a hybrid work model. You will interpret seismic, well log, and core data, develop subsurface models, and guide exploration strategies to maximize asset value in Mpumalanga.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s or PhD in Geology or Geophysics with 8+ years in oil and gas, and is proficient with Petrel, Kingdom, and HampsonRussell.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related earth science discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in exploration or development geoscience, preferably Oil & Gas.
• Proficiency with industry-standard geoscience software (Petrel, Kingdom, HampsonRussell).
• Strong seismic interpretation, well correlation, and basin analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Interpret seismic, well log, and core data to define subsurface structures.
• Develop and update 3D geological models for exploration and development.

About the Role

This role is pivotal in interpreting geological and geophysical data to identify and evaluate potential hydrocarbon resources within the Oil & Gas domain. You will be responsible for developing subsurface models, assessing geological risks, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to guide exploration strategies and optimize asset development. Your insights will be crucial for uncovering new opportunities and maximizing value from existing assets in the Mpumalanga region.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret seismic, well log, and core data to define subsurface geological structures and stratigraphy.
• Develop and update 3D geological models for exploration and development projects.
• Perform geological risk assessments and contribute to prospect evaluations.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers and geophysicists to create integrated subsurface interpretations.
