About the Role

Our client seeks a skilled Geologist with a focus on Exploration and Production to join their established team in Cape Town . This role is crucial for identifying and evaluating potential hydrocarbon reserves. You will analyze geological data, interpret seismic surveys, and contribute to the geological modeling of subsurface reservoirs. Working within a collaborative environment, you will play a key part in shaping the company's exploration strategies and ensuring the efficient development of resources in the Western Cape region and beyond. Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret geological, geophysical, and well log data to identify and delineate potential hydrocarbon reservoirs.
• Develop and refine 3D geological models integrating various data sources.
• Prepare detailed geological reports and presentations for exploration planning and risk assessment.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers and geophysicists to optimize drilling targets and production strategies.
• Participate in fieldwork and site visits as required for exploration and appraisal activities.
• Stay abreast of the latest geological technologies and methodologies relevant to the oil and gas industry.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences; Master's degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in geological exploration or development, preferably within the oil and gas sector.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Petrel, DecisionSpace).
• Strong understanding of seismic interpretation, sequence stratigraphy, and sedimentology.
• Excellent data analysis and critical thinking skills.
• Experience with datasets from the Western Cape is a plus.
