Job summary

Headhunters is seeking a Junior Field Technician to perform site assessments, install, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment on client sites. You will ensure safety compliance, complete risk assessments, and deliver high-quality handovers with proper documentation.

The role requires a Grade 12 with Mathematics and English, a Technical Trade Certificate, and multiple safety certifications, plus 3+ years in technical environments.

• Valid South African Driver’s License.
• Valid Forklift License.
• Working at Heights certification.
• Risk Assessment qualification.
• First Aid Level 1.
• Scaffolding erection & inspection – advantageous.
• Welding experience – advantageous.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Junior Field Technician.
• 3+ years’ experience in a technical, electrical, or industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Site Assessment and Preparation: conduct site inspections and assess installation readiness.
• Installations: perform accurate and efficient installations of equipment.
• Repairs and Maintenance: fault-finding and breakdown repairs on-site; maintenance of equipment.
• Quality Control and Commissioning: ensure high installation quality and proper handover.
• General Technical Duties: maintain knowledge of products; troubleshoot issues.
• Tools, Equipment and Work Environment: maintain tools; ensure safety compliance; keep workspace clean.
• Customer Service: deliver exceptional service and represent the company on-site.
• Team Responsibilities: support and mentor junior team members; promote teamwork.

• Conduct site inspections and assess installation readiness
• Take accurate measurements and determine equipment requirements
• Compile installation packs with tools, parts, and accessories
• Ensure all Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements are met
• Complete site-specific risk assessments

Installations

• Perform accurate and efficient installations of equipment
• Ensure installations are completed on time and within budget
• Take full responsibility for installation quality and execution
• Provide feedback on performance and operational challenges

Repairs and Maintenance

• Conduct fault-finding and breakdown repairs on-site
• Perform maintenance and servicing of mechanical and electrical equipment
• Ensure first-time fix and minimise repeat call-outs

Quality Control and Commissioning

• Maintain high installation and service quality standards
• Ensure proper commissioning and handover to clients
• Provide all required documentation (manuals, certificates, warranties)

General Technical Duties

• Maintain full technical knowledge of all products
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively

Tools, Equipment and Work Environment

• Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained and accounted for
• Conduct regular vehicle and tool inspections
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment
• Ensure full compliance with PPE and safety requirements

Customer Service

• Deliver exceptional customer service at all times
• Represent the company professionally on-site
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships
