Job summary

Placements24 in Bloemfontein is seeking a highly organized Events and Banqueting Manager to lead banquets, conferences, weddings, and other catered events at our premier hotel and venue.

You will manage client relationships from inquiry to completion, coordinate with internal teams, and ensure profitable delivery, quality service, and memorable experiences. The role requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends as events demand.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in event management or related hospitality roles.
• Proven track record of planning and executing a variety of events.
• Excellent organizational, time management and multitasking skills.
• Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficiency with event planning software and Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the full event planning process, from initial client consultation to post-event evaluation.
• Develop detailed event proposals, contracts, and BEOs (Banquet Event Orders).
• Liaise with clients to understand their event needs and ensure all requirements are met.
• Coordinate with internal departments, including catering, AV, banqueting staff, and housekeeping, to ensure seamless event execution.
• Manage event budgets, ensuring profitability while delivering exceptional value to clients.
• Supervise the setup and breakdown of event spaces, ensuring presentation standards are met.
• Train and manage banqueting staff, ensuring efficient service delivery during events.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise during events.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and vendors.
• Stay updated on event industry trends and best practices.
