Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with the Labour Relations Act, BCEA, and other relevant statutes.

This critical role will be responsible for providing expert legal counsel and strategic guidance on all matters pertaining to employment law across the organization. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of South African labour legislation and its practical application in a corporate environment. Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on all aspects of employment law, including recruitment, contracts, dismissals, disciplinary actions, and grievances.
• Develop, review, and implement HR policies and procedures in line with current legislation and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with the Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, and other relevant statutes.
• Advise on and manage complex employee disputes, including CCMA and Labour Court proceedings.
• Conduct internal investigations and provide recommendations on disciplinary matters.
• Draft and review employment contracts, retrenchment agreements, and other employment-related documents.
• Provide training and guidance to HR personnel and management on employment law matters.
• Stay abreast of changes in labour legislation and advise on their implications for the business.
• Manage the legal aspects of restructuring, retrenchments, and business acquisitions/disposals.
• Contribute to the development of a positive and compliant workplace culture.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney or qualified HR professional with at least 7 years of specialized experience in employment law.
• In-depth knowledge of South African labour law and its practical application.
• Proven experience advising on complex employee relations matters and dispute resolution.
• Strong understanding of labour legislation, including the LRA, BCEA, and EEA.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advisory skills.
• Ability to conduct thorough investigations and provide well-reasoned recommendations.
• Experience in representing employers at the CCMA and Labour Court is highly advantageous.
• Strong communication and presentation skills for training and advisory roles.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
• High degree of professionalism, discretion, and integrity.
