Placements24 seeks a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for our mining client in Polokwane, Limpopo. You will lead electrical system design for heavy industrial mining projects, covering power distribution, substations and MCCs, ensuring safe, reliable operation.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in mining/electrical design, proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP and ETAP, and holds Pr.Eng with ECSA registration. HV/MV/LV experience is essential and relocation to Polokwane is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 8+ years in electrical engineering design, mining/heavy industrial sector.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit MEP and ETAP.
• ECSA Professional Registration (Pr.Eng) essential.
• Experience with HV/MV/LV systems.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for mining operations across power distribution, substations and reticulation.
• Prepare detailed drawings, schematics, specs, and calculations using CAD and related tools.
• Select electrical equipment per project requirements and standards.
• Conduct site surveys and support construction and commissioning phases.
• Ensure designs comply with mining safety regulations and environmental standards.
• Collaborate with project managers, mechanical engineers, and geologists for integrated delivery.
• Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation for electrical hazards.
• Review contractor submittals and provide technical guidance during execution.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues and propose effective solutions.
• Stay updated with advancements in mining electrical engineering tech.
