Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for a major mining operation near Polokwane. The role combines on-site mining site work with remote oversight of complex electrical systems, driving safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

You will lead design, installation, and maintenance of electrical infrastructure, mentor junior staff, and collaborate across disciplines to optimize performance. A PE with heavy industry experience is preferred.

Formación

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7+ years in electrical engineering with mining/heavy industry focus.
• Experience with HV/MV distribution, substations, and power generation.
• Knowledge of industrial automation: PLC, SCADA, VSD in mining machinery.
• Understanding of mining electrical safety standards and regulations.
• Proficiency with electrical design software and PM tools.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsabilidades

• Design, install, and maintain electrical systems for mining operations, including power distribution networks and motor control centres.
• Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Conduct electrical hazard identification and risk assessments.
• Oversee electrical projects from scoping and budgeting to commissioning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical faults in demanding environments.
• Provide mentorship to junior electrical staff and technicians.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, operations teams, and external contractors.
