Placements24 seeks a Senior Chemical Engineer specializing in Process Optimization for our Vereeniging facility in Gauteng. You will lead initiatives to enhance efficiency, safety, and sustainability across production lines, guiding project teams from concept through scale-up.

The role requires 7+ years in industrial chemical process design, proficiency with Aspen Plus or HYSYS, and strong leadership to mentor engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 7+ years of industrial chemical process design and optimization experience.
• Proven cost savings or efficiency improvements from process changes.
• Experience with Aspen Plus or HYSYS and statistics tools.
• PSM and HAZOP experience.
• Strong problem-solving and leadership abilities.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing chemical processes to identify areas for efficiency, yield, energy consumption, and waste reduction.
• Design, develop, and implement process modifications and new technologies to achieve optimization goals.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for proposed process changes.
• Lead process hazard analyses (PHAs) and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
• Develop and implement advanced process control strategies to improve stability and performance.
• Oversee pilot plant studies and scale-up activities for new or modified processes.
• Provide technical expertise and support to production teams, troubleshooting operational issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the engineering department.
• Stay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements in chemical engineering.
