Job summary

Placements24 in Johannesburg is seeking an experienced Senior Process Chemical Engineer to optimize and develop chemical processes, ensuring safety, efficiency and product quality. You will troubleshoot operational issues and contribute to design of plant facilities.

The role requires a Bachelor's or Master's in Chemical Engineering, at least five years in process engineering, and hands-on experience with Aspen Plus or HYSYS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process engineering.
• Proven expertise in Aspen Plus and HYSYS.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and mass transfer.
• Experience with HAZOP studies and process safety management.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and scale up chemical processes to meet production targets and quality standards.
• Conduct rigorous process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement necessary safety protocols.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex operational and equipment issues in real-time.
• Design and implement process control strategies and monitor KPIs.
• Collaborate with R&D, production, and maintenance teams on project implementation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and process flow diagrams.
