Placements24 in Vereeniging is seeking an experienced Senior Chemical Engineer to join their industrial facility. You will provide technical leadership, optimize processes, and oversee safety and compliance across production operations.

The role demands a strong background in reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and project management, with mentoring of junior engineers and cross-functional collaboration to drive operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in chemical process design, operations, and project management.
• Deep understanding of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and separation processes.
• Extensive experience with PHA methodologies (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA) and process safety management (PSM).
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex engineering projects.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and expert guidance on all aspects of chemical process design, operation, and troubleshooting.
• Oversee and conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
• Manage and execute capital projects, from conceptualization through to commissioning, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
• Develop and implement strategies for process optimization to improve yield, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
• Mentor and develop junior engineering staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth operations and project success.
