Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Process Engineer for its facility in Vereeniging, South Africa. The role centers on designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting chemical processes within the energy sector to improve efficiency, safety, and sustainability.

You will work with operations, maintenance, R&D, and QA teams to deliver compliant processes, P&IDs, and operating procedures while leading technical discussions and implementing innovative technologies.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related discipline.
Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in process engineering, with exposure to chemical or energy industries.
Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and P&ID development tools.
Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and mass transfer.
Experience with process safety management (PSM), HAZOP studies, and risk assessments.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes for efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance.
Conduct process simulations and modeling using specialized software to predict performance and identify areas for improvement.
Oversee the implementation of new process technologies and equipment, ensuring smooth integration and minimal disruption.
Troubleshoot operational issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions to enhance process reliability.
Develop and maintain Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), operating procedures, and safety protocols.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, R&D, and quality assurance, to achieve project and operational goals.
