Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Lead Chemical Engineer in Durban to oversee design, operation and optimization of large-scale chemical production units. You will guide engineers and technicians, drive safety, environmental compliance, and process improvements while mentoring your team to peak performance.

The role requires a Master's in Chemical Engineering, 10+ years in industrial process engineering, and proven leadership of complex projects.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Chemical Engineering required.
10+ years progressive experience in industrial chemical process engineering.
Experience leading engineering teams and managing complex projects.
Expertise in process simulation, P&ID development and HAZOP studies.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, development and implementation of new industrial chemical processes.
Oversee day-to-day operations and performance of existing chemical production plants.
Conduct root cause analysis for process deviations and implement corrective actions.
Ensure adherence to safety regulations, environmental standards and quality control procedures.
Manage capital projects related to process upgrades and new installations, from conception to completion.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of chemical engineers and technicians.
