Job summary

Rightside in Johannesburg, Kempton Park, is seeking an experienced Retail Supervisor to lead the on-site operations and ensure efficient daily activities across day and night shifts.

You will oversee the operations team, implement training, monitor performance, and coordinate with Customer Service to maintain high service levels. The role requires strong communication, planning, and fleet awareness.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 certificate or higher is required.
• Excellent communication skills.

• 3–5 years operational and retail distribution experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow all reasonable and legal instructions from Senior Management.
• Be polite, respectful and courteous to everyone you meet.
• Never respond aggressively or rudely, even if provoked.
• Lead and motivate the Operations Team to work efficiently and productively.
• Provide training for all operations staff.
• Arrange regular meetings with the Operations Team to motivate and train staff.
• Supervise daily activities of all operational staff on Dayshift.
• Supervise daily activities on Nightshift.
• Minimise shortages, misroutes and damages.
• Ensure proper handover between Dayshift and Nightshift.
• Discipline staff in your department.
• Monitor staff performance and ensure timely reporting.
• Ensure all daily/weekly/monthly reports are accurate and submitted on time.
• Ensure staff wear full uniform daily.
• Assist Customer Service with requests and queries to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Maintain courteous professionalism in all communications with clients and staff.
• Monitor overtime and ERS daily.
• Coordinate 3rd party linehaul liaison and bookings.
• Arrange direct loads for on-site loading.
• Plan bookings per delivery/date/vehicle.
• Ensure compliance with retail procedures.
• Monitor zone controllers and shift reports.
• P&L loss control on vehicles vs routing.
• Work with Fleet manager/assistant to optimise fleet.
• Maintain interdepartmental communication flow.
• Aim for 98–99% on-time-in-full KPI.

Duties and Responsibilities Nationally

You are tasked with and responsible for, but not limited to, performing the following duties as Retail Supervisor. All performance appraisals and disciplinary enquiries will be based upon, but not limited to these:

• Supervisor and monitor the daily activities of all operational staff on Nightshift
• Minimise and eliminate shortages / misroutes and damages.
• Ensure that a proper and accurate handover is done daily between Dayshift and Nightshift
• Disciplining of the staff in your department
• Supervise and monitor the performance of Staff members within your department
• Ensure that all daily, weekly and monthly reports required are accurate and submitted on time
• Ensure that all staff members are wearing full uniform every day.
• Assist the Customer Service Department with requests and queries to ensure overall Customer satisfaction.
• Always maintain a level of courteous professionalism in all communication and correspondence with Clients, Agents and Staff members.
• Monitor Over time.
• Ensure ERS is completed daily.
• Ensure 3rd Party Linehaul liaison and booking.
• Arrange direct loads for on-site loading
• Ensure Booking Clients are planned for per delivery, per date, per vehicle.
• Ensure all operational and systems compliance based on retail procedures.
• Monitor Zone Controllers and shift reports.
• P&L loss control on vehicles vs routing.
• Work hand in hand with Fleet manager / assistant to optimize fleet.
• Interdepartmental communication flow.
• Ensure KPI levels at 98-99% on time in full.
• Any reasonable work-related instruction from management.
