Job summary

Rightside in Johannesburg, Kempton Park, seeks an experienced JHB Senior Operations Supervisor to lead the distribution team on daily shifts, drive efficiency, ensure service levels, and safeguard safety and compliance.

The role requires a Grade 12, excellent communication, ability to work under pressure, problem solving, reliability, and strong planning skills; you will coordinate fleet activities, supervise staff, and optimize handovers.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Follow management instructions and maintain professional conduct.
• Lead and motivate the Operations Team for efficient performance.
• Provide training for operations staff and conduct regular meetings.
• Supervise daily activities on Dayshift and Nightshift.
• Minimise shortages, misroutes and damages; ensure accurate handovers.
• Prepare and submit daily/weekly/monthly reports on time.
• Support Customer Service with queries to enhance customer satisfaction.
• Coordinate with Fleet and interdepartmental teams to optimize operations.
• Monitor OT, ERS completion, and 3rd party linehaul liaison and bookings.
• Direct loads for on-site loading at JHB Depot and Adhoc clients.
• Oversee bike delivery planning and zone controller/shift report monitoring.

Duties and Responsibilities Nationally

You are tasked with and responsible for, but not limited to, performing the following duties as Operations Supervisor. All performance appraisals and disciplinary enquiries will be based upon, but not limited to these:

• Follow all reasonable and legal instructions given to you by Senior Management
• Be polite, respectful and courteous to everyone you come into contact with
• Never respond aggressively or rudely, even if provoked
• Lead and motivate the Operations Team to ensure that they are perform efficiently and productively.
• Provide training for all operations staff
• Arrange regular meetings with the Operations Team to motivate, train and get feedback on issues experienced.
• Supervise and monitor the daily activities of all operational staff on Dayshift.
• Supervisor and monitor the daily activities of all operational staff on Nightshift
• Minimise and eliminate shortages / misroutes and damages.
• Ensure that a proper and accurate handover is done daily between Dayshift and Nightshift
• Disciplining of the staff in your Department
• Supervise and monitor the performance of Staff members within your department
• Ensure that all daily, weekly and monthly reports required are accurate and submitted on time
• Ensure that all staff members are wearing full uniform every day.
• Assist the Customer Service Department with requests and queries to ensure overall Customer satisfaction.
• Always maintain a level of courteous professionalism in all communication and correspondence with Clients, Agents and Staff members.
• Monitor Over time.
• Ensure ERS is completed daily.
• Ensure 3rd Party Linehaul liaison and booking.
• Arrange direct loads for on site loading – JHB Depot, In-Houses , Adhoc clients.
• Ensure Bike delivery planning in done daily.
• Monitor Zone Controllers and shift reports.
• P&L loss control on vehicles vs routing.
• Work hand in hand with Fleet manager / assistant to optimize fleet.
• Interdepartmental communication flow.
• Familiarize yourself on Retail division operations & bookings.
• Any reasonable work related instruction from management.
