Job summary

Work Africa is seeking an energetic Assistant Retail Manager for our FMCG operation in East London. The role demands hands-on leadership, a customer-focused approach and the ability to drive results in a fast-paced retail environment.

The successful candidate will motivate a team, maintain high standards, coordinate stock, merchandising and sales targets, and be willing to work retail hours including weekends and public holidays. Matric and 2–3 years’ supervisory experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Matric / Grade 12 certificate essential.
• 2–3 years’ experience in an Assistant Manager, Supervisor or similar retail management role.
• Previous FMCG / grocery / retail experience essential.
• Proven experience in staff supervision and customer service.
• Experience working with stock, inventory and merchandising.
• Strong sales and target-driven ability.
• Computer literate – MS Office and relevant POS systems.
• Good numerical and administrative skills.
• Willingness to work retail hours, weekends and public holidays as required.
