Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Remote Civil Design Engineer to lead the design and analysis of water infrastructure projects across South Africa. The role focuses on hydrology, hydraulics, and environmental considerations, with the flexibility of working from a home office.

You will design water and wastewater systems, perform hydraulic modeling, and prepare comprehensive design reports and drawings using WaterGEMS, EPANET, HEC-RAS, and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of water resources design experience.
• Proven expertise with hydraulic modeling software (WaterGEMS, EPANET, HEC-RAS).
• Strong AutoCAD and related design software proficiency.
• Experience in remote/distributed teams is desirable.
• Professional registration with ECSA is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze water and wastewater systems, including treatment processes, pipelines, and storage facilities.
• Conduct hydrological and hydraulic modeling to assess water flow, capacity, and environmental impact.
• Prepare detailed design reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications using advanced software.
• Collaborate effectively with remote project managers, clients, and other engineering disciplines via virtual platforms.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant South African national standards, environmental regulations, and best practices.
• Perform quality control checks on designs and provide technical support to construction teams remotely.
• Research and propose innovative and sustainable solutions for water resource challenges.
• Manage project documentation and contribute to proposal development.
