Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Remote Civil Design Engineer specializing in Water Resources to contribute to sustainable water management and infrastructure solutions from a home office. You will develop hydraulic models, design water and wastewater systems, and prepare technical reports for projects across South Africa.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years of water resources experience, expertise with WaterGEMS/EPANET/HEC-RAS, and proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources or Environmental Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr. Eng. is highly desirable.
• A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in water resources engineering, including design and project execution.
• Demonstrated experience with hydraulic modeling software (e.g., WaterGEMS, EPANET, HEC-RAS).
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and standard office productivity suites.
• Strong understanding of water quality, treatment processes, and environmental regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work asynchronously and communicate effectively online.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze water supply systems, wastewater treatment facilities, and stormwater management infrastructure.
• Develop hydraulic models and simulations for water distribution networks and catchment areas.
• Prepare technical reports, design drawings, specifications, and tender documents using industry-standard software.
• Conduct feasibility studies and environmental impact assessments for water-related projects.
• Collaborate effectively with project managers, clients, and other remote team members through online platforms.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant South African water resource management regulations and environmental standards.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and technicians remotely.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in water resource engineering technologies and methodologies.
• Participate in online project meetings and contribute to strategic planning sessions.
