Placements24 is seeking an experienced Remote Solar Energy Project Manager to lead large-scale solar installations across South Africa from inception to completion, coordinating with a globally distributed team.

You will develop detailed plans, timelines and budgets, drive cross-functional coordination with engineering, procurement and construction teams, oversee feasibility studies and regulatory compliance, and foster a productive remote working environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, PM, or related field.
• Master's degree is a plus.
• 8+ years in project management, 5+ years in solar.
• Proven experience with large-scale renewable projects.
• Knowledge of solar PV, grid integration, industry standards.
• Strong financial modeling, cost estimation, and contract negotiation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Experience managing remote teams and projects.

About the Role

Our client is pioneering the future of renewable energy and is seeking an experienced Remote Solar Energy Project Manager to lead impactful projects from inception to completion. This fully remote position allows you to leverage your expertise from anywhere in South Africa , managing diverse solar energy installations. You will be at the forefront of driving the adoption of sustainable power solutions, working with a globally distributed team. This role is ideal for a results-oriented individual who thrives in a virtual environment and possesses a deep understanding of solar technologies and project execution. The focus is on innovation and delivering high-quality, large-scale solar projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of solar energy projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
• Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring adherence to financial constraints.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Oversee site assessments, feasibility studies, and regulatory compliance for solar installations.
• Manage stakeholder relationships, including clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Identify and mitigate project risks, proactively addressing challenges.
• Ensure projects meet quality standards, safety regulations, and performance targets.
• Conduct regular project status meetings and prepare comprehensive progress reports.
• Contribute to business development by identifying new project opportunities.
• Foster a collaborative and productive remote working environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
• Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years focused on solar energy projects.
• Proven success in managing large-scale renewable energy projects.
• In-depth knowledge of solar PV technologies, grid integration, and relevant industry standards.
• Strong understanding of financial modeling, cost estimation, and contract negotiation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage remote teams and projects effectively.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
• PMP or similar project management certification is highly desirable.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting, based anywhere in South Africa .
