Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly motivated Solar Project Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of solar energy projects from a remote position in South Africa. You will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage external stakeholders, and drive successful installations on time and within budget.

The ideal candidate has a strong track record in renewable energy project management, exceptional organizational and leadership skills, and the ability to lead virtual teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of project management experience, with at least 3 years in solar energy.
• PMP or equivalent certification is highly desirable.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Solar Project Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of solar energy projects from a remote position. This role is critical in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will be responsible for coordinating with cross-functional teams, managing external stakeholders, and driving the successful execution of solar installations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management within the renewable energy sector, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to lead and inspire teams in a virtual environment. Key Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of solar project development, including planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
• Coordinate and liaise with engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental standards, and project specifications.
• Conduct regular site visits (as required, though role is primarily remote) and progress monitoring to identify and mitigate risks.
• Prepare and present project status reports to senior management and clients, highlighting key milestones and challenges.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of project management experience, with at least 3 years specifically in solar energy projects .
• Demonstrated success in managing projects from conception to completion, meeting strict deadlines and budget constraints.
• Strong knowledge of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems , installation best practices, and relevant technologies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• PMP or equivalent project management certification is highly desirable.
