Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter for a fully remote role based in South Africa. You will assess applications, set terms and premiums, analyze data, and develop underwriting policies to manage risk.

The position requires 7+ years in insurance underwriting and a strong SA market understanding. You will collaborate with brokers, mentor junior underwriters, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to growth with strategic risk assessment.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
• ACII or equivalent designation is desirable.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in insurance underwriting.
• Proven track record underwriting complex risks across lines of business.
• Strong data interpretation and analytics.
• Remote work capability and SA market knowledge.

Responsabilidades

• Evaluate insurance applications, assessing risks and determining terms, conditions, and premiums.
• Analyze financial data, medical records, property reports and other information to inform decisions.
• Develop and implement underwriting policies and guidelines to manage risk.
• Collaborate with agents and brokers to understand needs and provide underwriting advice.
• Monitor and manage a portfolio of risks, identifying trends and issues.
• Review and approve exceptions to guidelines, ensuring sound judgment.
• Conduct market research to identify opportunities and threats.
• Mentor junior underwriters and share best practices.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
