Placements24 is seeking a Senior Underwriter specialized in Commercial Lines for a fully remote role. The position is based in Cape Town, SA, and requires evaluating, pricing, and managing complex risks to drive profitability and portfolio growth.

The ideal candidate will have 7+ years in commercial lines underwriting, solid knowledge of Property, Casualty, Marine, and PI products, and a proven ability to work independently from home with strong broker collaboration.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in commercial lines underwriting.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Professional designations (e.g., ACII, FLMI) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal commercial insurance business within authority limits.
• Analyze financial statements, loss history, and data to assess risk exposure.
• Develop and negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing for profitability.
• Maintain and grow a profitable book via broker relationships.
• Collaborate with claims, actuarial, and other departments on risk management.
