Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a leading innovator in the global Energy sector, is seeking an accomplished Senior Renewable Energy Project Developer for a fully remote position. This role is instrumental in identifying, evaluating, and securing new renewable energy projects, with a focus on solar and wind. You will leverage your expertise to manage the full project development lifecycle, from initial site identification and feasibility studies through to securing permits, interconnection agreements, and power purchase agreements (PPAs). Working remotely, you will collaborate with a distributed team of experts, investors, and stakeholders. We are looking for a strategic leader with a proven track record in renewable energy project development, strong negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of the South African energy market. Key Responsibilities

• Identify, assess, and secure opportunities for new renewable energy projects (solar, wind).
• Conduct comprehensive feasibility studies, including site assessments, resource analysis, and grid connection studies.

• Negotiate and secure key project agreements, including land leases, PPAs, and interconnection agreements.

• Stay abreast of market trends, policy changes, and competitive landscape in the renewable energy sector.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• A Master's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in renewable energy project development, with a strong focus on solar and/or wind projects.
• Demonstrated success in originating, developing, and bringing to financial close renewable energy projects.
• In-depth knowledge of the South African renewable energy market, including policy frameworks (e.g., REIPPPP), regulations, and grid interconnection processes.
• Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and financial modeling skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously in a remote setting.
• Strong understanding of PPA structures and other project finance mechanisms.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and proactively in a distributed team environment.
