About the Role

Our client, a leading renewable energy company, is seeking an ambitious and experienced Remote Wind Energy Project Developer to join their expanding team. This role is pivotal in identifying, evaluating, and securing new wind farm development opportunities across South Africa. You will manage the full lifecycle of project development, from initial site identification and feasibility studies to securing permits, land agreements, and power purchase agreements. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from your preferred location while contributing to the growth of wind energy. Key Responsibilities

• Identify and assess potential sites for new wind farm developments.
• Conduct thorough feasibility studies, including resource assessment, environmental impact, and grid connection feasibility.
• Negotiate and secure land leases and option agreements with landowners.
• Manage the permitting and regulatory approval process with local and national authorities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders, government officials, and industry partners.
• Secure Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and other necessary off-take arrangements.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure project designs meet technical and economic requirements.
• Develop and manage project budgets and financial models for development activities.
• Prepare proposals and presentations to secure project financing and internal approvals.
• Stay informed about market trends, policy changes, and competitive landscape in the renewable energy sector.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or a related field.
• A Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in renewable energy project development, with a strong focus on wind energy.
• Demonstrated success in developing wind energy projects from inception to financial close.
• Proven ability to negotiate complex agreements (land leases, PPAs).
• In-depth understanding of the South African regulatory and permitting landscape for energy projects.
• Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently in a remote setting.
• Proficiency with GIS software and renewable energy project management tools is advantageous.
• Willingness to travel periodically for site visits and key meetings.
