Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Process Optimization Engineer for a fully remote role within South Africa. You will lead model development, data-driven optimization, and scale-up initiatives across global chemical processes, collaborating with R&D, production, and safety teams. Independence in project delivery and strong analytic thinking are essential.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in process design and optimization, with proficiency in Aspen Plus, HYSYS or ChemCAD, and a Pr. Eng.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in chemical process design, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, ChemCAD).
• Registered Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) with ECSA is highly advantageous.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and independent project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement advanced process models and simulations for optimization of chemical manufacturing.
• Analyze operational data to identify inefficiencies and propose corrective actions.
• Design pilot plant studies and scale-up processes for new products.
• Collaborate across R&D, production and safety to meet regulatory requirements.
• Prepare reports, PFDs and P&IDs; evaluate new technologies for performance gains.
• Mentor engineers and manage project timelines and budgets.
