Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer to join a fully remote team, based in Mossel Bay, Western Cape, with global project access. You will design, model, and optimize complex chemical processes, leveraging Aspen Plus, HYSYS, and UniSim while guiding junior engineers from a remote setting.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s or PhD in Chemical Engineering with 8+ years of experience in process design and simulation, and strong thermodynamics and kinetics knowledge.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Chemical Engineering.
• 8+ years of chemical process design and simulation experience.
• Proficient with major process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, UniSim).
• Strong thermodynamics, kinetics, and separation processes knowledge.
• Experience leading remote, consultancy-like projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and simulation of complex chemical processes from concept to detailed engineering.
• Develop and validate process models using industry-standard tools.
• Conduct optimization studies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Perform techno-economic assessments for new designs and technologies.
• Prepare PFDs, P&IDs, mass & energy balances, and equipment specs.
• Collaborate with clients and remote project teams via virtual channels.
• Mentor junior engineers working remotely and ensure compliance with standards.
