Qualifications

• 5+ years in network operations or similar in large-scale environments.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in CS/IT.
• Proficiency with SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix or similar monitoring tools.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing (BGP/OSPF), switching, VLANs, VPNs.
• Scripting skills (Python/Bash) for automation are a plus.
• Strong analytical, communication and remote teamwork abilities.

About the Role

Our client, a leading telecommunications solutions provider, is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Remote Senior Network Operations Specialist to enhance their Network Operations Center (NOC) capabilities. This is a fully remote position, ideal for experienced professionals who excel in monitoring, managing, and optimizing network performance from their home office. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and security for our client's critical network infrastructure. As a key member of a distributed team, you will play a vital role in proactive issue detection, rapid incident response, and continuous improvement of network operations. This role serves a geographically dispersed network but is operationally anchored near Bloemfontein .

Key Responsibilities

• Proactively monitor network performance, availability, and security using advanced NMS (Network Management System) tools.
• Respond to and resolve network incidents and alerts promptly, performing root cause analysis for recurring issues.
• Implement network configuration changes and upgrades according to established procedures and change management protocols.
• Collaborate with engineering and support teams to troubleshoot complex network problems across various technologies.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive operational documentation, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
• Participate in capacity planning and performance tuning initiatives to ensure network scalability and efficiency.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of NOC processes, tools, and automation scripts.
• Provide 24/7 on-call support as part of a rotating schedule.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• 5+ years of experience in network operations, network administration, or a similar role within a large-scale network environment.
• Proficiency in monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix, or equivalent.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), switching, VLANs, and VPNs.
• Experience with troubleshooting network connectivity and performance issues across diverse environments.
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation is a plus.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, essential for effective remote teamwork.
