Placements24 is seeking a Remote Senior Network Administrator to join its IT team. This fully remote role allows you to design, deploy, and maintain a robust network infrastructure across South Africa, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of experience, strong TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, OSPF/BGP, and hands-on security know-how. You will monitor networks, implement security controls, and guide junior staff from a remote setting.

About the Role

Our client is a dynamic and forward-thinking organization seeking an experienced Remote Senior Network Administrator to join their IT department. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of our client's robust network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and performance. Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, configure, and manage local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and other network infrastructures.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network issues to ensure optimal operation and minimal downtime.
• Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection systems, and access controls.
• Perform regular network maintenance, upgrades, and patches to ensure system stability and security.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
• Plan and execute network capacity planning and performance tuning.
• Provide technical support and guidance to other IT staff and end-users on network-related issues.
• Evaluate and recommend new network hardware, software, and technologies.
• Manage network service providers and vendor relationships.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in network administration and management.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and switching technologies.
• Strong experience with network security principles and tools (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS).
• Proficiency with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios).
• Experience with cloud networking concepts (AWS VPC, Azure VNet).
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or CISSP are highly desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
